What we’ll discover

  • Listen to each ayah, then hear and read its translation of meaning
  • Understand the call to care for orphans and encourage feeding people in need
  • Distinguish neglecting prayer from ordinary forgetfulness during prayer, and learn sincerity in good deeds
  • Choose a small helpful action, answer questions and practise reciting the whole surah

Take a little discovery into your day.

Talk about what you noticed, then explore the next step together.

For parents · Sources and narration

For ages 5–8, with a parent or teacher. Human recitation of each ayah is followed by its clearly labeled translation of meaning, a substantive explanation adapted from Tafsir As-Sa‘di, and a question with five seconds to answer. Opening isti‘adhah and basmala also have separately spoken meanings. The lesson ends with a recap, an everyday activity and full-surah recitation practice. Questions and examples are authored learning material. The warning about those who pray is immediately explained with the following ayat about neglect and showing off. The lesson preserves As-Sa‘di’s distinction between neglecting prayer and accidental forgetfulness within prayer. Authored activities suggest sharing food or lending a suitable book with adult guidance and the owner’s permission.
